When we checked on 3 November 2026, we opened every test page on this site, gave each one input (key presses, mouse clicks and movement, or playing its sounds) and logged every network request. No request held keystrokes, clicks, touches or results. The only other site the pages contacted was analytics.answermend.com, for the page counts described below. The controller test was opened but not driven, because it needs a real gamepad.

What the tests use

Saved on your device

Some tests keep past results and settings in your browser's local storage: dated dead pixel results with any screen name you type, drift readings saved under your controller's name, and settings such as keyboard layout, or light or dark look. The touch, refresh and dead pixel results are saved under a name that includes your screen size. Test results also join your dated device report, which holds each result, the numbers behind it and any value you entered. The report itself holds no device name or browser details, though its touch reading counts squares, which follow your window size. They aren't sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them, and the report has its own delete button.

Share cards and links

A share card or link is made in your browser, and only when you press a button on the share screen. A link holds exactly what its card shows. Those results sit after the # in the link, which browsers don't send to our server. Anyone you give a link to can read it, and anyone could edit it. We keep no copy.

Page counts without cookies

To see which tests people use, we count visits with Umami, an open-source analytics tool. It runs on analytics.answermend.com, a separate site run by the same owner as DeviceJig. It sets no cookies.

When a page loads, your browser sends Umami one small request with:

Umami also gets one short event naming the test when you finish a test with a result or download a file. The event carries no result and no test data.

From those requests, Umami works out your browser, operating system, device type and approximate location (country, region and city). Your IP address is used for that lookup and is not stored. Visits are grouped by an anonymous ID that Umami works out from your IP address and browser details together with a secret value. The secret value changes regularly, and the ID changes with it, so visits from before and after a change can't be linked.

Umami's own update checks and usage reporting are switched off, so it doesn't pass anything on to a third party. We don't sell or share the counts.
